DOVER -- Mary Melanie Sullivan, 87, of 112 Sixth St., died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born March 9, 1914, in Somersworth, the daughter of Daniel Francis and Melanie (Wimpfheimer) Sullivan and has resided in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Somersworth High School.

For 40 years, she was a telephone operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph where she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

Members of her family include her sister, Alicia Madeline Sullivan of Dover and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Doris M. Sullivan and Ruth Frances Sullivan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, corner of Chestnut and Third Streets, with the Rev. Fritz Cerullo, OSA, pastor as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the family lot at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth.
