OBITUARY

A Mass for Ernest D'Emilio, 81, of Fords will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords, after the funeral from the Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.

Mr. D'Emilio, who died Saturday in the JFK Medical Center, Edison, worked with the maintenance support staff of the Scotch Plains school system before retiring 27 years ago. Previously, he was a salesman for the Wiss Jewelers in Newark and Decca Records Corp., Newark. During the 1960s, Mr. D'Emilio owned Maria's Restaurant in Linden.

He was a member of the Musicians' Local in Newark and played bass fiddle with the Andy Kress Orchestra at Mayfair Farms Caterers in West Orange during the 1940s and 1950s.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Union, the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3117 in Edison and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Linden.

Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley, Carteret and Toms River before moving to Fords 12 years ago.

Surviving are a son, Ernest; daughters, Judy Caponegro and Doreen Tremarco; brothers, Richard and Gerald; sisters, Vera Vidal and Mildred D'Angelo; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
