Morris S. ''Mike'' Lazaron Jr., 79, of the 7700 block of Argyle Ave., a retired stockbroker with Wheat First Securities, died May 15, 1996, in his residence.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Lazaron had been a resident of Norfolk since 1949. During his service in the Navy in World War II, he was captain of the minesweeper Penetrate. Following the war, the minesweeper left the North Atlantic and went through the Panama Canal and was turned over to the Russians under the lend-lease plan.

After the war, he worked in the shipping business in New York City, and later became the manager of the Sunlight Laundry in Norfolk.

He was a graduate of Princeton University, Class of 1938. He played on two national champion LaCrosse teams and is in the LaCrosse Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer, woodworker and bread baker.

He was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk, and was a former congregation president. Mr. Lazaron was a member of the board of the Virginia Symphony; a charter board member of the STOP Organization; a member of the Torch Club; a member of the Norfolk Bicentennial Committee; a founding member of the Prostate Cancer Group; and a board member of the Norfolk Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Gerst Lazaron; their children, Polly Lazaron of Richmond and Edward G. and Louis H. Lazaron, both of Norfolk; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors are his sister, Clementine, and her husband, Judge Frank A. Kaufman, and a brother, Harold Lazaron, and his wife, Peggy; and his wife's sister, Elsa G. deBeer of Albany, N.Y.

A Temple service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Ohef Sholom Temple by Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norfolk Senior Center or the archives of Ohef Sholom Temple. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is handling the arrangements.
