Sister Dollie Harrell            
HARRELL Sister Dollie Harrell, 79, of Palatka went to be with the Lord Monday, April 13, 2009, at her residence following a sudden illness. She was a longtime resident of Palatka and was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Lulla May and Henry Baer. She soon moved to Branford, Florida and was raised along with her paralytic brother and three sisters on the banks of the Suwannee River. At the age of 14 Rev. Harrell married James L. Harrell and soon moved to Palatka where her husband became employed at Hudson Pulp and Paper. Rev. Harrell was married to James L. Harrell for 54 years until his death in 1998. After moving to Palatka in 1952 she worked in the St. James United Methodist Church in Palatka as a Junior Sunday School Teacher and in the late 1950s was the Youth Director for the First Assembly of God in Palatka. In 1958 Rev. Harrell was guided to begin an evangelism ministry having her first revival at the Assembly of God in Keuka, Florida. Also in 1958 Rev. Harrell was guided to begin a Nursing Home Service for the elderly here in Palatka. Rev. Harrell held her first nursing home service at the Hilltop Nursing Home on River Street in 1958 and continued those weekly services until March of 2009. In the early 1960s Rev. Harrell was guided to begin a radio ministry over WBIX and WQIK in Jacksonville, and also over WSUZ and WWPF here in Palatka. Rev. Harrell was on those radio stations and others for many years preaching the Gospel. Rev. Harrell attended Southeastern University and received her ministerial papers in the late 1950s with the First Assembly of God in Palatka. In the early 1960s Rev. Harrell taught kindergarten in Palatka teaching many children of the Putnam Community the alphabet. She also worked in the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Palatka in the early 1960s under the late Rev. Simpson. In the mid 1960s Rev. Harrell was guided to start an independent religious ministry in Palatka an opened the Pentecostal Revival Center Church at 15th and President Street in December of 1965. Rev. Harrell later moved the Pentecostal Revival Center to its present location at 1100 State Road 19 South in 1976 and continued to be the Pastor for some 42 years. Rev. Harrell was also guided to open The Pentecostal Revival Academy in 1987 and has graduated many through the A.C.E. School Program over the years. Rev. Harrell was guided into the television ministry in the early 1980s where she began making television productions and was on WJXT, Channel 4 in Jacksonville for some five years. She was on TV 47 in Jacksonville for some eight years. At that same time Rev. Rev. Harrell was guided to birth a gospel television station for Palatka and after some eight years of applying to the FCC received a Low Power Television Station License to serve the Palatka community. Rev. Harrell was the President of WJGV, The Gospel Vision, and operated the television station serving Palatka which is one of some 600 "Class A" Stations here in America. With her television station she was also active in local politics and interviewed many candidates over the years. Rev. Harrell ministered here in Palatka for some 50 years via her Nursing Home services, Radio Services, Church Services, and Television Services the uplifted the Christian Ethic. WJGV has been on the air for 17 years. Rev. Harrell in 1978 established the Pentecostal Revival Association, Inc. to be the parent unique ministry, and was president of the Corporation for 30 years, which provided a valuable public service to the Palatka Community as well as the world for the glory of Jesus Christ. May she rest in the arms of the Lord her Savior forever. Rev. Harrell was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Baer and three sisters, Rebecca McNeeley, Carolyn Wright and Sarah Frances Baer. She is survived by a son, James L. "Sonny" Harrell, Jr. of Palatka; a daughter and son-in-law, Betina H. and Marvin Garner of Palatka; five grandchildren, James L. Harrell, III, Elizabeth E. Harrell, Marvin Russell Garner, Jr., Harrell Baer Garner and James Lewis Garner; eight great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters. Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Pentecostal Revival Center in Palatka. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Pentecostal Revival Center with Bro. Gene Luke and Sis. Nancy Luke officiating. Burial will follow in the Palatka Memorial Gardens.
