Mrs. Eva Tiano, 85, a longtime resident of Montclair, died on Sunday, April 8, at her home.

Services will be held in the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 841 Allwood Rd., Clifton, on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Beth El Cemetery, Washington Township, N.J.

Mrs. Tiano was born in 1921 in the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Karl and Francis Lederer.

In the late 1930s, she fled her native country and avoided perishing in the Holocaust. She first moved to France, where she met her future husband, Albert, then to Portugal and from there, in 1942, she immigrated to Cuba. In 1960, after Castro came to power, Mrs. Triano moved again, to the Untied States, and in 1966 settled in Montclair.

For many years, she was a coowner with her husband and son, Robert, of Fabricville, the fabric store on Watchung Avenue, which closed some years ago.

She was predeceased in 2005 by her husband, Albert. She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Schuchinski and her husband, Luis, of Montclair; her son, Robert Tiano and his wife, Natalie, of North Caldwell; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her granddaughters, Susan Weintraub and Jane Schwartzberg, and their families are also residents of Montclair.
