TRURO - Ellen Baer Galvin, of Truro, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, in Liberty Commons Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was the wife of Brendan Galvin.

Born in Germany, she immigrated to the United States with her parents prior to World War II. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and settled with her husband in Durham, Conn.

She and her husband summered at their home in Truro for over 40 years before moving here full time in 1997.

Mrs. Galvin enjoyed crafting and taught many people in the Durham area the art of quilting and rug making. She was a world-class knitter.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, she leaves a son, Peter Galvin and his wife Carla Rissmeyer of Norton, Mass.; and a daughter, Dr. Anne Galvin and her husband Harold Butler of Brooklyn, N.Y. She also leaves grandchildren Owen, Gwen and Maddie Galvin; in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown, from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014. A memorial service at the funeral home will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Truro.
