     Isaac Kaufmann was born on 30 May 1851 at Viernheim, Baden, Germany.2,3 He was the son of Abraham Kaufmann and Sarah (Sorle) Wolf. Isaac Kaufmann married Emma Kaufmann in 1887 at Germany.3 Isaac Kaufmann married Belle C Meyers in 1899.3 "He came to this country in 1869 and joined his brother the late Jacob Kaufmann who had come to Pittsburgh the previous year and from that time they were associated in business and later with their brothers Henry and Morris Kaufmann they developed what is recognized as one of the largest retail stores in the United States."3 Isaac Kaufmann died on 18 July 1921 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, at age 70 after an illness of three years.3

Pasadena Drive, O'Hara Township, Allegheny, Pennsylvania; Edgar Kaufmann owned the family's home which was worth $100,000.      Edgar Jonas Kaufmann was listed as the head of household on the 1930 census in 1930 ? Pasadena Drive, O'Hara Township, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Also living in the house was his wife, Lillian Kaufmann, his son, Edgar J Kaufmann. Edgar Kaufmann owned the family's home which was worth $100,000. The family had three servants, but did not have a radio.3 Edgar Jonas Kaufmann married Grace A. Stoops on 4 September 1954 at William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.5 Edgar Jonas Kaufmann died on 15 April 1955 at Palm Springs, California, at age 69.6,7 An editorial at the time of his death stated:"The world, America and Pittsburgh are indeed the poorer because three men died within the week, two within hours of each other. One of them, Albert Einstein, left a global imprint. ... Another is Edgar J. Kaufman whose influence was less encompassing than Einstein's but whose footprints were just as respectable on the sands of tomorrow. Look about you and you will see imperishable proof of Mr. Kaufmann's regard for the warmer, gentler side of life. Brilliant merchant he was, but that is not how his name will be cherished wherever people gather to laugh or relax or cry. As the tiller of the soil who brought it to blossom and fruit -- that is how Edgar Kaufman inscribed his name on memory's ageless tablets."8
