Dr. Clyde Roeder1 (M)
b. 15 October 1883, d. 1 February 1972
Last Edited=18 Feb 2007

Dr. Clyde Roeder was born on 15 October 1883 at Omaha, Nebraska.2 He married Theresa Heinsheimer, daughter of David Heinsheimer and Sarah Pettinger, on 25 June 1912.2
Dr. Clyde A. Roeder was born in Omaha, Nebraska, October 15, 1883, and the public schools of Nebraska afforded him his early education. In preparation for his chosen profession he thereafter entered the Medical College of historic old Yale University, from which he was graduated as a member of the class of 1908. After thus receiving his degree of Doctor of Medicine he gave six months of service as an interne in the New Haven General Hospital in the city that is the seat of Yale University, and he next served three months in the Boston Floating Hospital. In 1909 he became surgeon in charge of St. Francis [p.232] Hospital at Grand Island, Nebraska, where he continued his effective administration until 1914, in June of which year he entered the celebrated Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, as Fellow in Surgery. There his services included clinical pathology, general diagnosis and surgery, the respective duration of his work in these departments being three months, eight months and one year. It is needless to state that he profited greatly by the fortifying experience gained in this great surgical clinic, with which he continued his affiliation until May, 1916, when he established himself in practice in his native city of Omaha, where he has since confined his activities almost exclusively to the surgical branch of his profession. Doctor Roeder is assistant professor of surgery in the Medical School of the University of Nebraska, this department of the university being established in Omaha, and in the World war period he was thus retained as an ?essential teacher? in the university. Doctor Roeder takes loyal pride in being a member of the Nebraska State Medical Society, of which his grandfather was one of the founders and of which his father was long an influential member. He has membership also in the American Medical Association, and has the distinction of being a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Association of Resident and ex-Resident Physicians of the Mayo Clinic.
June 25, 1912, recorded the marriage of Doctor Roeder and Miss Theresa Heinsheimer, of Glenwood, Iowa, and they have one child, Susanne, born November 10, 1918.2
Dr. Clyde Roeder died on 1 February 1972 at Santa Barbara, California, at age 88.3
