Morris Baer was also known as Moritz Bär. He was born on 18 April 1862 at Untergrombach, Baden, Germany.² He was the son of Machol Bär and Elisabeth (Elise;Ellen) Kaufmann. Morris Baer married Laura Hanauer in 1892.³ Morris Baer died on 21 March 1919 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, at age 56.⁴ Morris Baer was one of the best known business men of Pittsburgh at the time of his death.
