Emilie Vogel [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #3134, Date of Import: 8 Jun 1998]

Arrived in New York from Germany on Friday before her grandson Gustave Eisemann's Bar Mitzvah, January, 1939. Her departure was delayed because she went to Holland to say good bye to a sister (Fanny Rapp) and had difficulty re-entering Germany.

Aschaffenburg is located 38 km ESE of Frankfurt and had a Jewish population of 591.

Emile was quite hard of hearing, and according to Ruth Rapp, relied heavily on her nephew Menny for medical and personal advice. Perhaps because of her hearing loss, she was paranoid that people were always talking about her. When she would call at the Rapp home for Menny, and was told that he was not in, she would ask to use the bathroom and proceed to look in each room of the house, believing that he was avoiding her. She was born on 15 September 1871 at Aschaffenburg, Bayern, Germany.3 She was the daughter of Simon Vogel and Rickchen Maier.4 Emilie Vogel married Moses Isaak, son of Lazarus (Eliezer) Isaak and Nanette Prager, on 26 March 1894 at Darmstadt, Germany. As of 26 March 1894,her married name was Isaak. She was a member of the Chevra Kadisha in Frankfurt.2 Emilie Vogel lived from 18 May 1927 to January 1939 at Frankfurt am Main, Germany.5 The Petition for Issuance of Immigration Visa for Emilie Vogel made by Sally (Sam) Isaak was approved on 2 November 1938.6 Emilie Vogel immigrated on 17 January 1939 to New York, New York, aboard the SS New York. She lived on 13 September 1940 at 255 West 98th St., New York, New York.3 She received her first citizenship papers on 11 June 1941 at District Court of the Untied States, New York, New York.7 She lived on 11 June 1941 at 924 West End Avenue, New York, New York. On September 1, 1943 the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a spot search at the home of Emilie Isaak. During this they discovered that she had "a considerable amount of photographic equipment for which she had received permission from the United States Attorney." "She denied membership in any subversive organizations or ever having purchased Rueckwanderer Marks. She stated that she is willing that her husband serve in the United States Armed Forces. She desires a United States victory." The case was presented to the US Attorney who decline prosecution.8

Emilie Vogel filed a Petition for Naturalization on 11 April 1944 at District Court of the Untied States, New York, New York.9 She lived on 22 November 1944 at District Court of the Untied States, New York, New York. She was naturalized on 22 November 1944 at District Court of the Untied States, New York, New York. The personal description of holder as of date of naturalization was: Age: 73 years, color: white, complexion: fair, color of eyes: brown, color of hair: grey, height: 5 feet 3 inches, weight: 140 lbs., (an unknown value.) She died circa August 1947 at New York, USA.
