Jakob Hasterlik was born circa 1740.2 He was the son of Isak Hasterlik and Magdalena (?)1 Jakob Hasterlik married Rifka (?), daughter of Markus Isak.1 Jakob Hasterlik received permission to marry in 1772 at Chanovice, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary. Jakob Hasterlik had no sons to inherit his familiant position. The position was therefore inherited by his son-in-law, Markus Hahn.1 Jakob Hasterlik lived on 14 May 1783 at Gut Chanowitz, Chanovice, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary, with his wife and two children.. He supported his family through distilling spirits, "river divelopment" and deailing in tobacco products.3 Jakob Hasterlik lived on 24 January 1793 at Gut Chanowitz, Chanovice, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary, with his wife, Rebeka, their first-born daughter, Barbara, second-born daughter, Weruna, third-born daughter, Magdalena, and fourth-born daughter, Monika. He was under protection at Chanowitz and owned his own distillery and "river house". He supported his family through distilling and manufacturing of potash.4 Jacob Hasterlik appeared in the 1811 Jewish Census in Chanowitz. According to the census, he received his marriage allowance at Chanowitz in 1772. At some point after the census, his name was crossed out and notes that he was dead and that his position was now occupied by Markus Hahn were added.5 An alternate source suggests that Jakob Hasterlik died on 13 December 1818 at Chanovice, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary.1 He died on 24 December 1818 at Chanovice, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary.2 He was buried at Jewish Cemetery, Slatina, Bohemia.2
