Mandl Joachim1

#18980, b. circa 1753, d. 25 May 1823
Last Edited=16 Jan 2018
Mandl Joachim was born circa 1753.1 Although no records directly indicate that Josef Rafael was a son of Mandl Joachim, there are several clues that point in this direction. First the protocol filled out when Josef Rafael died listed his immediate family members, including his siblings. According to this Josef's brothers were Jakob Joachim and Isak Joachim and his sisters were Betti Joachim and Rosi widowed Deutsch. Furthermore, Josef's great-great-granddaughter, Betty Bledy (née Johanna Elisabeth Rafael), recounted that the family name was originally Joachim (long before the above protocol was discovered). Josef's brother, Isak's gravestone in the Jewish Cemetery in Austerlitz indicates that his name was Isak Wolf Joachim son of Menachem Mandel. Additionally, the next son born to Josef (in 1826) after the death of Mandl in 1824 was named Mendel.1,2 He died on 25 May 1823 at House no. 20, Austerlitz, Wischau, Moravia, from tuberculosis.1
