He was the son of Moses Fried and Marie Gratum.1,2 Friedrich Fried and Berta Hahn lived from 1894 to 1941 at Gablonz an der Neisse (Jablonec nad Nisou), Böhmen, Czechoslovakia.3 Marriage banns for Friedrich Fried and Berta Hahn were published 11., 18., 25. May 1895 at C. Budejovice and Jablonec n/N., Bohemia, Austria-Hungary. Bedrich Fried married Berta Hahn, daughter of Ignaz Hahn and Elisabeth Pick, on 2 June 1895 at Prague, Austria-Hungary, The marriage was officiated by an unknown person . The witnesses were Moses Fried and Wolf Berger.4,5
As of 1942, Friedrich Fried lived at Ladska (?), Podebrady, Czechoslovakia. He died on 21 November 1942 at AII. Krankenstube 1, Theresienstadt Concentration Camp, Terezín, Czechoslovakia, at age 81 from Pneumonia.2,6,7 He was buried on 23 November 1942 at Theresienstadt Concentration Camp, Terezín, Czechoslovakia.7,2

Her last foreign residence was between 1945 and May 1947 at Hotel Luxor, Podebrady-Lazne, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia.5 Margarete Fried filed a Petition for Issuance of Immigration Visa on 17 September 1946 for her mother, Berta Hahn. It was witnessed by Saul Ganz and Louis Kislik.6 (an unknown value).7 Berta Hahn had an Affadavit of Support filed by Ruth Ganz as part of her application for a visa on 10 October 1946; the mother of a friend of hers of very many years standing.8 Berta Hahn had an Affadavit of Support filed by Felix Rafael as part of her application for a visa on 14 October 1946; his mother-in-law.7,9 Berta Hahn had an Affadavit of Support filed by Margarete Fried as part of her application for a visa on 15 October 1946; her mother.10 The Petition for Issuance of Immigration Visa for Berta Hahn made by Margarete Fried was approved on 6 November 1946.11 Berta Hahn was issued passport number 4048/2725/47 on 6 March 1947 by National Security Headquarters, Praha, Czechoslovakia. It was valid until February 28, 1948.12

Berta Hahn registered for an alien registration number on 8 May 1947. The alien registration number she received was 6743459. According to the application, Her name was Berta Fried and she had also been known as Berta Hahn. Her address in the United States was to be 220 Cabrini Blvd., New York 33, NY. She was born on June 9, 1874 at Ces. Budejovice, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. She was a female, widowed and white. She was 4 feet 8 inches in height, weighed 122 pounds, had grey hair, and brown eyes. She expected to be engaged in the following activities in the United States: "to join my daughter". Within the past 5 years, she was engaged in the following activities:"Concentration Camp".13

She applied for an Immigration Visa as a quota immigrant on 8 May 1947 at Prague, Czechoslovakia.12 She emigrated to the United States of America from (an unknown value) and her lawful entry for permanent residence in the United States was at New York, NY on 29 July 1947 on the vessel m.s. Gripsholm.13 As of between 29 July 1947 and 22 January 1954, Berta Hahn lived at 220 Cabrini Blvd, New York, New York, USA.14 She died on 20 January 1954 at 220 Cabrini Blvd., Manhattan, New York, New York, at age 79 Coronary Arteriosclerosis(Hardening of the Arteries).15 The yahrzeit date of Berta Hahn was 16 Shevat 5714. She was buried on 22 January 1954 at Mt. Moriah Jewish Cemetery, Fairview, New Jersey. Debra Benet Rafael was named for Berta Hahn.
