Raphael Loew was born circa 1685 at Weingarten, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. He was received into protection (Schutz) in 1722. The 1729 census of the the Jews in the district of Bretten lists Raphael as born in Neckarsulm and under protection in Weingarten since 15 May 1722. Further information shows him first received at Weingarten on 19 Oct 1705. [Wolmershauser, letter 16 Jun 1999].¹
