There has not been a death in this community for years which seemed more sad than that of Miss Rosa Wimpfheimer. Before any but her nearest neighbors knew that she was ill, she was taken away, in the bloom of youth, from family and friends to whom she was so dear. Her death occurred on Saturday evening. She was taken ill the day before with cholera morbus, and her condition became so serious early Saturday morning that a physician was called. Later in the day a Portsmouth physician was called in consultation. In spite of all that was done for her, however, she passed away that evening.

Rosa was eighteen years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Wimpfheimer. They survive her as also do three sisters. She was a very bright girl, as pretty as a picture, amiable, vivacious and with friends by the score. She was a great favorite among those who knew her, and was considered one of the brightest and most attractive of the young girls of our city. For a year or more she has been attending Robinson Female Seminary, Exeter. It is easy to understand how the sudden death of such a young lady should affect the community with deep sadness, and call out an expression of earnest and genuine sorrow.

The funeral services occurred Tuesday morning at the family residence on High street. The body reposed in a beautiful casket and was almost buried in the profusion of beautiful flowers, brought by relatives and friends. Nothing could be more expressive of the esteem in which the young lady was held than this splendid collection of lovely flowers and floral pieces. There was a very large attendance, and large numbers of people viewed the remains. The funeral ceremonies began at 11 o'clock and were conducted by Rabbi Fleischer of Boston. The bearers were Guy H. Lock, Valmore Gastonguay, E. C. Andrews, E. C. Locke of this city and Will Lindsay of Dover, and the interment was in Forest Glade cemetery. During the funeral services, the stores and places of business about town were closed.
