....... Charles Thompson

Charles Thompson, a long time resident of Garden City, passed away on December 9, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Kay, his children, Chas, Cathy Hicks, Chris, Matthew, Kerry Koslo, Maura the late Kevin, their spouses and thirteen grandchildren.

Charlie was born and brought up in Flushing. While attending Columbia University, he became a Jones Beach lifeguard following in his brothers’ footsteps. This was one of the highlights of his life along with his children and grandchildren continuing the tradition. After graduation, he was employed in the cosmetic industry until his retirement.

Charlie was involved in Boy Scout Troop 56 and worked with many to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also an active participant in the life of Saint Joseph’s Parish as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, visitor to parishioners in the hospital and served on many committees.

Charlie’s’ smile and outgoing personality will be missed by his family and many friends.
