Loeb, Rose (Odenheimer)
LOEB, Rose (Odenheimer) Rose (Odenheimer) Loeb, 91, of West Hartford, formerly of New Haven, died Wednesday, (November 10, 2004). Born in 1913 in Hanau, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Max and Anna Heymann Odenheimer, and wife of the late Siegfried Loeb. Before leaving Germany in 1939, when she married her husband, who had just been released from the Buchenwald concentration camp, she had graduated from the Gymnasium with her Abitur and had lived in Paris, France. She had hoped to become a translator, but the war interrupted her plans. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Richard Nabel, with whom she had lived for 10 years, and her cherished grandchildren, Alanna and her husband David Goldberg of West Hartford; Jared and his wife Sarah, of Haverhill, MA; and Evan, of Boston, MA; and her ray of sunshine, her great-grandson, Cayden Goldberg. Her family wishes to thank all who cared for her at Hebrew Home in the Restorative Unit and on 2South. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 12, at Noon at the Keser Israel Memorial Park in West Haven, with Rabbi David Small officiating. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her family at 262 N. Quaker Lane, West Hartford. on Friday following interment, Saturday evening, and Sunday from 3. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may made to the Pediatric Oncology Research Fund of the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT 06106, or to the Emanuel Synagogue Brotherhood Fund for Holocaust Education, at 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT 06117.
