Deceased Name: Victor Hutter
Victor Hutter, 79, a lawyer and self-trained mechanical design engineer at Argonne National Laboratory, died Sunday in Evanston Hospital from cancer. Originally from Austria, he earned his law degree from the University of Vienna in 1936. In 1939, he fled the Nazis via Italy and Shanghai, China, to the United States. In World War II, he served in the Army, specializing in prisoner interrogation. He began at Argonne as an artist when it opened in the late 1940s and worked there for 33 years, principally in the breeder reactor division. There are no immediate survivors. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Roosevelt Road and Oak Ridge Avenue, Hillside.
