RICHIE D'EMILIO , of HOLMDEL , lost his battle with life on Monday, Oct. 22. He was born Sept. 14, 1926 in Belleville. He grew up in Nutley and was one of 11 children. He started working at age 12 and was happiest when he was working the rest of his life. He graduated from Nutley High School in 1943. He volunteered in the U.S. Army right after high school. He was a World War II veteran and observed the first A-bomb being loaded aboard a B29 in Tinian before taking off for Hiroshima. After World War II, he attended the University of Maryland. He was a born fighter and became a junior middle weight boxer. He went on to graduate from Parsons School of Decorating & Design. He served as commander of the V.F.W. Post 2179 for three years, commander and head chief of the American Legion Post 515 for four years, and a member of the Amvets. He was a former professional boxer and member of the N.J. Boxing Hall of Fame.

His life is celebrated today by his two families, his wives, Elvira and Faye; his daughters, Michele and Maria; and his sons, Richard Jr. and Guy.
