Obituary for Mrs. Marjorie Elaine Baer
Mrs. Marjorie Elaine Baer , 95 , of Palatine Bridge, NY, passed away October 5, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
She was born on September 9, 1920 in Leesville , New York to Vernon and Lelah Horman Gardinier. She was a lifelong resident of the Canajoharie area and was a graduate of Canajoharie High School Class of 1939.
Marjorie worked as a Clerk at the Central National Bank in Canajoharie, NY until her retirement in 1993. She also worked at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie as a machine operator for 10 years before working at the former Dave's Restaurant on Canal St. in Ft. Plain as a waitress.
She was of the Lutheran Faith.
Marjorie first married Delbert L. Newell on Jan 23, 1943. He passed away on October 30, 1958. She then married Ludwig Baer on July 16, 1966. He passed away on May 9, 1979.
Marjorie was known for her beautiful smile and enjoyed time spent with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards and casino trips with her dear friends. She was an avid Yankees fan and loved #2 Derek Jeter.
Survivors include her two special daughters, Bonnie (Alan) Messie of Syracuse, NY and Ann (Daniel) Colvin of Fonda, NY. Five grandchildren, Chad Messie of Liverpool, NY, Kim Messie of Baldwinsville, NY, Derek (Jennifer) Messie of Skaneateles, NY. Daniel (Kelly) Colvin of Wilton, NY and Christine Douglas (Rick Husted) of Amsterdam. Ten Great-Grandchildren, Max, Huw, Jacob, Brandon (Cassie), Ryan, Casey, Daniel, Danielle, Jacob and Jenna. One great-great grandchild, Tyler. Grandson-in-law, Robert Douglas of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Maynard Gardinier and two sisters, Carmeta Bronk and Dorothy Gardinier.
You will be forever missed Mother, Sweetie, Gram and Nanny.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00A.M. at the Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Zack Labagh presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home from 9:00A.M. to 11:00A.M.
