     Ernst Samuel Fuchs was born on 15 October 1859 at Weingarten, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany.4 He was the son of Hirsch Fuchs and Fanni Ottenheimer. Ernst attended the "Gymnasium" in Karlsruhe between 1871 and 1875, where he skipped two grades. He graduated in 1876 from the "Gymnasium" in Heilbronn. Ernst continued his schooling from 1876 to 1880 by studying law at the Universities in Heidlberg and Strasbourg. Ernst was a law clerk for the Baden "Justiz- und Verwaltungsdienst" (Judicial and Administraive Service) between 1880 and 1884. Dr. Fuchs continued his career as his lawyer in 1884 at the Regional Court in Mannheim. From 1885 to 1894 he was a lawyer before the Regional Court in Karlsruhe. Ernst Samuel Fuchs married Mina Kaufmann in 1887.2,3 From 1894 to 1929 Ernst Fuchs was a lawyer at the Higher Regional Court at Karlsruhe, as was his son Dr. Albrecht Fuchs. Dr. Fuchs received an honorary doctgorate from the University of Heidelberg in February 1929. Ernst Samuel Fuchs died on 10 April 1929 at Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany, at age 69.2

Mina Fuchs was also known as Michle Fuchs. Mina Fuchs was also known as Wilhemina Fuchs.3 She married Ludwig Maas, son of Isaac Maas and Johanna Mayer, on 12 July 1853 at Bad Dürkheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.1,3 Her married name was Maas.1
