Moses Anschel Hochberger was born on 20 March 1775 at Hochberg, Württemberg, Germany.1 He was born on 20 March 1779 at Hochberg, Württemberg, Germany.2,3 He was the son of Judas Anschel and Detzel Rothschild. In 1804 his father requested that he be received into Schutz in Hochberg because "he wants to establish himself here and marry a daughter of Gumbel, the local Schutzjud, who died many years ago. She posseses 1400 Gulden in cash and in addition, her own house and garden half of the lower level of the synagogue, today Hauptstraße 30).4 Moses Anschel Hochberger married Lea Kusiel, daughter of Gumbel Ephraim Kusiel and Hanna Raphael, on 12 December 1805. Moses Anschel Hochberger was Schacherhandel. A year after his marriage, Moses Anschel decided to leave Hochberg. He submitted the following request on 18 December 1806: "Your majesty has had the highest level of grace in granting me Schutz on 21 June 1804 and I had the hope that I would be able to support myself here through trade. Because their are so many Jews in this village, one reduces the nourishment of another. For this reason trading becomes worse every day. Therefore I would like to change my place of residence and settle in Esslingen, where I can hope to be able to better provide for myself. I bring a capital of 5000 Gulden and will therefore never become a burden on the city."3 He died on 2 November 1852 at Esslingen, Württemberg, Germany, at age 73.5
